OTIKO DJABA ADVICES FATHERS ON THEIR DAY

Minister for Gender, children and social protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba, in a press release on father’s day, has urged all fathers to be positive role models in the lives of their children and other members of the society.

According to her, the role of fathers and “father figures” are very critical to the development of the children and the family. Just as mothers have their role to play, so do fathers to achieve responsible parenting. She says children need both parents and the extended family for a balance development.

A child without a positive role model is likely to be involved in criminal activities, less disciplined and participate in unhealthy Minister for Gender, children and social protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba, in a press release on father’s day, has urged all fathers to be positive role models in the lives of their children and other members of the society.

Otiko Afisah Djaba in a press release, says: “Father’s day is a day to celebrate and honour fathers. It is celebrating fatherhood, paternal bond and influence of fathers in society. The Ministry of Gender, children and social protection wishes all fathers a happy father’s day. This message does not only cover those who are fathers biologically but stretches to all those who have played a fatherly role in the lives of children in our society”.

The Minister writes: As we celebrate Father’s Day, we encourage men to be positive role models in the lives of their children and other members of society. No matter how great a mother is she can never replace a father.
Otiko Djaba says: “On this day that is dedicated to honour you, we say “AYEKOO” to all fathers. Every child needs someone who is completely committed to them, and let it be you. We also take this opportunity to call on fathers to support the quest for “Gender Equality”. The Ministry launched a HeForShe campaign on 12th December, 2017. This is a global solidarity movement for gender equality, with the aim of engaging and encouraging men and boys to take action against gender inequality towards women in Ghana.

She encourages fathers to visit their social media accounts and comment to support the drive for gender equality.
