Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi must beat Tanzania’s Leodegar Tenga to win a seat on the FIFA Council in Thursday’s crucial election in Adis Ababa.
The Ghanaian FA leader is facing perhaps the toughest election in his ambition to become a member of the powerful FIFA council for a four-year mandate.
The election takes place at in Ethiopia’s capital, Adis Ababa on Thursday in what is expected to be the most keenly contested polls in the history of the Confederation of African Football.
FIFA’s cabinet was significantly expanded as part of reforms introduced by new president Gianni Infantino.
The 36-member FIFA Council will hold its first meeting in Zurich on October 13-14.
Its replaces the tarnished 24-member executive committee and takes responsibility for setting the overall strategic direction of world football’s governing body.
