NSMQ2019 Live: Augusco run loose in Speed Race

St Augustine’s College has taken a commanding lead after Round Two in the last semifinal contest of the ongoing National Science and Maths Quiz.

The top dogs based in Cape Coast began the contest in the second position but after Round Two also known as the Speed Race, they have bolted to the first position and with a wide margin.

The questions in the round were directed to all schools simultaneously and St Augustine’s picked most of them. GSTS’ answers were mostly rejected; costing them points.

The round ended with the scores at: Augusco, 25pts – Ketasco,11pts – GSTS, 4pts.

The third round; Problem of the Day, is underway. A single question is given to all three schools and they have three minutes to answer.

Can the chasing pack catch up?

St Augustine’s College has been phenomenal all year in the National Science and Maths Quiz.

From the qualifiers, through the maiden Central Regional championship to the nationals, no challenger has come any close to beating the Cape Coast-based school.

Only Tamale SHS attempted in the quarterfinal but they were quickly shrugged off by the one-time winners.

But Monday evening, Augusco faces the biggest challenge yet.

They come against equally one-time champions, Ghana Secondary and Technical School (GSTS) and one of Volta Region’s best, Keta Senior High and Technical School.

All three schools hope to outmatch the others and pick the last slot at the grand finale.

Already, two of the three slots have gone to five-time champions, Presec Legon and defending champions, St Peter’s Boys’ SHS.

Which of the three join the already qualified schools.
