NIGHT MARKET IN GHANA

As the shadows lenghtens, night falls and everyone is destined torwards home. But ask yourself, are the streets silent just like your room? You will be so amazed to see the long queue at Auntie Serwah’s kenkey’s joint and Kiki Suzzy’s noodles and beverages stand, around the hours of 10:00 pm to 12:00 am.
The pavements are occupied with both consumable and non-consumable goods. Ranging from already made and second-hand clothes and foot wears, fruits and vegetables, jewels, even mobile phones, home accessories just to mention a few.Meanwhile cars troop in to the shopping mall to shop.Over there, night market is fun but,you will never resist window shopping.

Most people prefer night market to day time market because of the affordable prizes of goods. You cannot afford to hear the funny clinging bell and chanting voice calling ,”One One cedi”,”Bebre One cedi” and then “Maameoo  dende”.Their approach makes you feel home.If not careful, you will squander your last earns for the day.

The Ga-kenkey stand is croweded whiles the forecort of Mama G’s chop bar is occupied with cars.Back to the pavement, one common thing we see now is slightly used phones for ‘swap’.Another issue which seems to be normal but has negative impact in the society is, children moving” helter skelter ” selling purified sachet drinking water, vegetables many others,at that dark hour instead of staying indoors to study and complete their assignment. We normally hear rape and kidnap cases and mostly the story starts with’I sent my son or daughter to sell the last stock for me’.

FROM THE TRADERS

Traders complain they encounter theft problems during night market especially when many people surround.Mostly, this normally occur at the ends of traders who sell second-hand clothes and shoes. As many people troop in,attending to a costumer one after the other is very dificult, hence the smart ones will always get the chance to steal the items.

Also, they mostly earn counterfeit after checking sales made during the night. They don’t often get the opportunity to check the stands of the notes due to this same instance of people trooping in towards their sector. But my dear traders, don’t be carried away with the crowd, you have to boy-cot the one who you think is not ready to buy and focus on the ones willing and ready to buy.

However, the mostly earn more as compared  to the normal market day.

FROM COSTUMERS

Most costumers often regret buying at night because they normally buy certain fake and expired products.Well,it is quiet difficult to determine fake and expired products at night because of less vission.

Pilfering is another problem they face.As they stand  by to select what they want to buy.Be smart while you bend down to choose your favourite items, pick pockets are behind you!

Hence, they prefer night market because of the low prizes of products and easy bargaining.

Some traders traders also sleep over the night at the market because of their far destination.Night market Ghana are mostly sited in Kwame Nkrumah circle,Kaneeshie,Kasoa,Makola,Osu and in the Ashanti region, the Kumasi Central market and Asafo market.

Trust me,night market is very fun and a great experience.Try one night!
