Telecommunication giant MTN-Gh has launched it’s annual APPS challenge.
The competition which saw 40 developers in its maiden edition in 2013 has seen an exponential growth in the number of participants at the fourth edition, this shows that the MTN Apps challenge season 5.0 will bring hundreds of applicants on board.
Delivering his speech at the launch,Mr Asher Khan, chief marketing officer for MTN Ghana stated that our way of living has been transformed globally by the use of technology especially in the 21st century.
He said many who tagged themselves as BBC (Born Before Computer) have been forced to adapt to technology in an ever-increasing digital world.
According to Mr Asher, the MTN Apps challenge is all about giving the right platform and opportunities to the local App developers to succeed beyond expectations because in this part of the world they recognize the abundance of burgeoning app developers across the country.
“Apps is the order of the day. Therefore, for the early adapters, the dependency on apps cannot be overlooked. Like water, technology practically regulates their way of life patterns in terms of when to wake up,what to eat, where to go and how to get there and even how to keep up with healthy and trendy lifestyles, as the need increases, app developers globally are tasked with the mandate to keep it up” he stated.
He also seized the opportunity to invite Ghanaians especially, new developers and women to participate in this year’s Apps challenge because the only way Ghana participate in the digital revolution is to develope our own local talent and local content.
