The Member of Parliament [MP] for Bantama Constituency Daniel Okyem Aboagye has disclosed his view on the nomination of Jean Mensa as the next Chairperson of the Electoral Commission [EC].
According to Mr Aboagye, the MP on the ticket of the NPP, there are three things that need to be done to win an election.
He made this known in an interview with Kofi Asamoah Aning Pink FM’s “Omanbapa Kasa” morning show host.
Performance is one of the serious indicators in an election. Government in power that is truthful in their dealing and hard working.
Secondly, to win an election it is not the EC that will determine the outcome of the election but people have to be vigilant and let people be interested.
The MP for Bantama constituency revealed that before the 2016 elections, they campaigned from house to house for 7 months.
“We were able to hit about 80 percentage of the household in the Bantama Constituency”. He added
“Ghana has changed. Politics of propaganda and insults has reduced. People have also become more vigilant. Due to this, if the New Patriotic Party [NPP] wants to win the election it will not be the EC.” He asserted
Mr Aboagye supports the nomination of Jean Mensa as the next EC Chairperson.
Mrs Jean Mensa, head of the Institute of Economic Affairs [IEA] has been nominated by President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo as the next chairperson of the Electoral Commission [EC].
This follows the removal of Mrs Charlotte Osei and her two deputies, Amadu Sulley and Mrs Georgina Opoku Amankwa for misconduct.
A statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare has named Mr Samuel Tettey and Dr Eric Asare Bossman as the deputy Chairpersons of the commission.
