The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency, Hon. Annor Dompreh has made claims on the minority’s sabotage to the free Senior High School project.
He said this in view of the recent claims made by Mr. Patrick Awuah, President of Ashesi University, that ‘free Senior High School can best be sustained when the government focuses more on the Day Schools rather than the Boarding Schools’.
Hon. Dompreh emphasized that, there are two Senior High Schools in his constituency, which are, St. Martins Senior High School and Nsawam Senior High School. St. Martins is a boarding school whiles Nsawam Senior High School is a day school and everything is in progress.
‘’I believe the free S.H.S is not fully completed. There are one or two things that we are still negotiating to put it in place but the minority is against the free Senior High School’’.
He opened up to the host of Pink FM’s ‘Omanbapa Kasa’, morning show Kofi Asamoah Aning that former president John Dramani Mahama, being part of the minority, was once a beneficiary of free Education. ‘’Your father enrolled you in a school in the South but because of free education, you were transferred to the North to go and benefit, and if someone has now come to make it nationwide, you are against it’’.
Hon. Dompreh further stated that, since Democracy started in the year 1992, the NPP have remained the only government that has implemented the most Social Policies such as free SHS, capitation grant, school feeding, community health, national health insurance and the recent Ghana card.
The Member of Parliament who doubles as a consultant went ahead to assure Ghanaians that ‘’We now have oil in this country and we will not use the money for enjoyments or for buying big Hotels in Dubai but we will channel all the money into whatever project that we’ve started’’.
‘’The minority once stood up against using the oil money for the free Senior High School project, but they should understand that the NPP will not be in government forever, we will definitely go and sit back and watch what others do’’.
What is left now is for us all to support the project with all our strength and our spirit and accept it in good faith.
‘’Development is based on the mindset’’, he concluded.
