The Allied Council Board of the Ministry of Health (MoH) has been inaugurated in Accra. The 11 member governing board chaired by Professor Augustine W. Kwame Kyere was inaugurated on Friday
Prof. Augustine W. Kwame Kyere, Dr. Samuel Yaw Opoku, Dr. Gaetan Charles Adangabey, Dr. Prince Sodoke Amusu, Dr. Samuel Kyei, Mr. Ofori Amoah Justice and Dr. Matilda Asante, University of Ghana make up the 11 member board.
Also made up of the board are Dr. Ernest Asiedu, Ministry of Health, Mrs. Anna Pearl Akiwumi Siriboe, Attorney General Department, Mr. Richard Asamoah Mensah and Madam Justina Owusu Banahene.
The Board is responsible for determining scopes of practice for allied health professions. They also committed to providing and effective system for the regulation of the health professionals whose work have direct impact on patient and service users in order. This do this to ensure public protection.
They also urged to secure in the public interest the highest standards of training and practice of allied health professions.
Furthermore, Ministry charged them to oversee the regulation of education, training and also practice of allied health professions in order to gain public confidence.
Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, the Minister of Health congratulated members of the Board and thanked them for accepting the invitation to serve the nation in this capacity. He also charged them to identify and analyse the challenges facing the allied health profession and submit proposals that would address them for consideration.
