Medeama Chief Praises Players Despite Loss

President of Medeama Sporting Club, Mr. Moses Armah has expressed pride in the performance of his despite their 3-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg tie of their CAF Confederation Cup playoff.

The Ghana Premier League side capitulated at the death to lose to the Brazilians at the Lucas Moripe stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.

Sundowns came from a goal down to win 3-1 against the two-time Ghanaian FA Cup champions, leaving their opponent with a mountain to climb in the reverse fixture.

But despite the setback, Mr. Armah hailed the players, insisting his side will overturn the deficit.

Addressing his players after the game, he said, “I want to congratulate you for the performance today. Unfortunately it wasn’t the result we had anticipated”.

“You should not be downhearted. This is football and anything can happen.

“The tie is not over. It’s far from over. We have the second leg to look to and we’re going to overturn it.

“Let’s put this defeat behind us and look ahead to the return leg in Sekondi.

“Ghanaians have confidence in us and we should go out there and make them proud”, Mr. Armah added.The second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup playoff will take place at the Sekondi stadium on May 18.
