MAHAMA’S ICT CENTER FAILS TO FUNCTION AFTER THREE YEARS OF INAUGURATION

Amanfro

Pinknews has observed that an ICT facility built by the Mahama administration at Ngleshie Amanfro has failed to function after three years.

Even though a whopping amount of GHC 52, 000.00 was spent in putting up the facility at Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality in the Greater Accra region to train and employ some youth in the area, it has failed to serve its intended purpose whilst the facility deteriorates.

During a visit to the building, reporters from Pink FM could only meet but a facility that seemed to be totally abandoned since some few dusty computers were found in the facility.

It was also observed that the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) had taken over some part of the facility as their office.

Elders of the community in an interaction with this reporter expressed their disappointment over the situation since according to them, the community could have benefited from the project had it fully served its purpose.

But they also hinted about their plea to the Ministry of Information to grant permission for the place to house the newly created assembly.

“We are quietly disappointed over the situation but we now have a new district which has been carved out of Ga South so we have intended to engage the ministry in discussions and see if they will allow us to temporarily use the facility as an office of the assembly” Nana Tambea, Queenmother of the area hinted.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ga South, Joseph Nyarni, has hinted that “the Ministry of Information has announced to him its intention to revitalize the place and ensure its smooth running so that the youth in the area could be trained”.

However, the MP of the area, Habib Saad, has already taken a leading step in ensuring that the facility starts running after its dormancy since its inauguration in 2015 by appointing a volunteer to supervise the activities to that effect.

But what Pinknews cannot fathom is why the former administration could not ensure the operation of the facility even though a huge amount was spent on building it.
