Lincoln FA Cup heroes to cash £5,000 each in bonuses after Burnley scalp.

Lincoln City’s FA Cup heroes are set to receive £5,000 each in bonuses after beating Burnley in the fifth round.

Sean Raggett’s 89th-minute winner booked Lincoln’s place in the quarter-finals for the first time in the club’s 133-year history.

It was the also the first time a non-League team had made it through to the last eight of the competition since 1914.

Lincoln had only put a bonus scheme in place as far as the third round.

When they beat Oldham in the second round to reach the next stage the players received £500 each.

But three wins later and nearly £2million richer from prize money, television revenue and gate receipts, the club have been able to reward their players with more than they earn in over a month.

They are set to profit even more from the next round with broadcasters queuing up to show them live on television for the fourth time during the competition, at either Sutton or Arsenal.

A further £360,000 would be paid out in prize money should they win their quarter-final.

Imps manager Danny Cowley said it was a ‘football miracle’ for a non-League team to be one win away from a semi-final at Wembley.
