In preparation for the 2019 Homowo festival, the people of Kwabenya are to embark on a massive clean-up exercise to cleanse the environment of dirt.
They are to be led by Nii Mensah Dza-Nyomo, the paramount chief of Kwabenya and Musuku Township. He said that filthy environment is the cause of diseases such as cholera. This cleaning will help eradicate the menace of cholera.
Chief Nii Mensah Dza-Nyomo added that it is mandatory on his part and his elders to have an initiative to prevent cholera. He said that diseases can impede and stifle development in the locality. Children and parents alike are affected by this.
He made comparisons between the previous and current years. He said that in the old times, it was obligatory for everyone to partake in a clean-up exercise. This has changed and no one is willing to volunteer anymore. This has accounted for the problems we are facing now.
As patriotic citizens, we are responsible for the society and making of our environment a better place to live in.
