The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) has been closed down indefinitely, following violent protests on Monday.
The decision was taken after a meeting between school authorities and the Ashanti Regional Security Council.
Announcing the decision, the Ashanti regional minister, Simon Osei Mensah indicated also that a curfew has been imposed on students between 6 pm and 6 am tonight.
Students, including student leadership of the KNUST, have also been giving up to 12 noon to vacate the school premises.
He, however, mentioned that foreign students will be allowed to be on campus but shall be given a single hall to lodge in whilst they are been protected by a joint security force.
The minister also stated that authorities will work around the clock to restore the damaged properties.
