KENNEDY AGYAPONG’S HEARING AT THE PRIVILEGE COMMITTEE OF PARLIAMENT SUSPENDED.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong’s hearing at the privilege committee of Parliament has been suspended
Kennedy Agyapong has finally appeared before the Privileges Committee of Parliament with his lawyers, KT Hammond and Alexander Afenyo-Markin, on Tuesday.
He however, refused to sit with the complainant, Muntaka Mubarak as was arranged by the committee.
Ken Agyapong’s lawyers argued that some members of the committee had prejudiced themselves by making comments on the matter through interviews with journalist prior to the hearing.
They also presented a letter indicating that members of the committee who are from the Central Region intend to rescue themselves from the hearing due to their relationship with the accused.
However, the Chairman of the committee after being served with a letter by the Central regional MPs suspended hearing for their request to be considered.
The Member of Parliament for Assin Central appeared before the Privilege Committee of the August House over his alleged attacks on the Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu.
This comes after the MP refused to show up fortnight ago when he was invited by the disciplinary committee of Parliament headed by Joe Osei Owusu.
The outspoken politician has been accused of making some disparaging remarks against Parliament and Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader of Parliament, describing the August House as “useless” for having the Suame MP as its leader.
There are reports that the National Patriotic Party MP may be sanctioned if a Prima facie case is established against him after opposition MP Muntaka Mubarak reported him to the House.
