IT’S NOT OVER YET – NII ARMAH TO ZANATOR

“…the law grinds slowly but it will surely get to its destination. The case is not over yet, we’ll still continue at the High court” says the camp of Nii Armah Ashietey.

This comment comes on the back of a Supreme Court (SC) ruling that Dr Zanetor Rawlings can hold herself as an elected Parliamentary aspirant for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Klottey Korle constituency.

The SC by a unanimous decision ruled in favour of Dr Rawlings whose candidature was challenged by incumbent Member of Parliament Nii Armah Ashietey.

By a 4-1 decision, the judges ruled Dr Rawlings did nothing wrong in contesting for the Klottey Korle Parliamentary seat even though she was not a registered voter.

They claimed it is only when the Electoral Commission accepts the candidature of a person before his or her status as a registered voter can be scrutinized.

Speaking to the issue in an interview on Kasapa FM, Kester Kuranchie, Special Aide to Nii Armah Ashietey said even though the Supreme Court has ruled in favour of Zanetor Rawlings, “we insist that the NDC party has flouted its own rules…”

“The issue we sent to court is an internal party matter; we insist that the NDC party has flouted its own rules because Zanetor was not eligible to contest the election at the time she did per the party’s constitution. We are not saying she can’t go to Parliament. The law grinds slowly but it will surely get to its destination. The case is not over yet, we’ll still continue at the High court.”
