It’s a happy Valentine’s Day as Chelsea captain John Terry, Liverpool coach Steven Gerrard and more from the world of sport spread the love.

Gerrard’s a Red, and Schneiderlin’s blue, they’re all loved up, and more stars are too…

Yes, it’s that time of year again, and just like the rest of the population, sports stars and their partners have been quick to jump on social media and declare their love for each other.

Liverpool academy coach Steven Gerrard, Crystal Palace loanee Mamadou Sakho and rugby star James Haskell have all been busy on Tuesday morning plotting their best Valentine’s Day message to sweep their partners off their feet.

And what says ‘I love you’ more than a perfectly filtered Instagram photo with that special person and 13,963 likes?

February 14 is a day to spoil your loved one rotten, and that was certainly the case for one lucky Premier League captain.

Chelsea’s John Terry was up early and couldn’t stop himself from sharing the presents he had received from his wife Toni – a box of chocolates and a copy of Pep Confidential, the book detailing Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s first season in charge of Bayern Munich.

What supporters of Chelsea, Terry’s other true love, will think of his interest in their rival’s boss remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Gerrard found the time in his hectic schedule to wish his wife Alex a Happy Valentine’s Day. Having recently been appointed an academy coach at Anfield, the former midfielder is juggling his new role with punditry duties for BT Sport.

The love seems to have spread around Merseyside on Tuesday, with Liverpool forward Danny Ings sending a post the way of his girlfriend Georgia Gibbs on Instagram, while Everton’s Morgan Schneiderlin represented the blue half with his tribute to partner Camille Sold.

Mamadou Sakho, currently on loan at Crystal Palace from Liverpool, posted a shot of him with his wife Majda.

Away from the North West, Cesc Fabregas was also posting a picture of himself with long-term girlfriend Daniella Semaan, along with the message: ‘You are my valentines every single day.’

Elsewhere in the world of sport, Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom was out to prove her husband is a lover as well as a fighter, with the American posting a picture of the pair by San Francisco Bay.

Cricketers were out in force too, trying to bowl over their loved ones with messages. Australia captain Steve Smith posted a picture of himself out with his partner Dani Willis, while England’s Steve Finn wished his girlfriend Emma Rose a happy day.

And while rugby is a game of brute force, England man James Haskell showed he has a softer side, posting a selfie with his partner Chloe Madeley.
