INSTANT JUSTICE: SUSPECTED ROBBER SET ABLAZE IN THE WESTERN REGION

A man between the ages of 23 and 25 years has been set ablaze for allegedly involving in a robbery incident that occurred yesterday morning and evening on Adams’s Sefwi Bekwai main road in the Amenfi central district of the Western region.

Commuters were robbed of sums of money and their valuables at a same spot yesterday.

This triggered the youth who were on a lookout for the perpetrators.

According to them, the robber came from the bush to buy some foodstuffs and water for his men at their hide outs this morning and upon interrogation they suspected him to be one of the robbers.

Abusua Panin Yaw Fosu an elder in the Daboase community explained that residents of the area have been witnessing various scenes of robbery attributing that to this morning’s incidence.

He however called on government to put their road in good shape since the robbers have been taking advantage of the poor nature of roads in carrying out their operations.

The Divisional Queen Mother of Adjakaa-Manso, Nana Yaa Adowa lll, also attributed the rampant robbery incidences in the area to poor road network and lack of patrol vehicle for the police in the area and pleaded with the Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo led government to come to their aid.

She however, urged the youth to always exercise restrain and avoid instant justice because according to her the suspected robber who was set ablaze had started mentioning some names that could have led to the arrest of the rest of the suspects by the police upon further interrogation and investigation but he couldn’t finish before he was slained.

Nana Adowa is of the belief that the action of the youth would destroy the investigation process of the police

The  district police commander of the area, DSP Owusu Bempah is however, yet to make an official statement on the issue to the media.
