GOVERNMENT SETS 5000,000 GHANA CEDIS AS MEMORIAL FUND FOR THE DECEASED MAJOR MAXWELL MAHAMA`S FAMILY.

Government has set 5000,000 cedis as fund for the family of the late Major Maxwell Mahama. The deligation which included Yaw Osafo Marfo, Trade Minister Alan kyeremanteng National Secretary Minister Jan Dapaa, Defence Minister Dominique Nitiwul and and Minister for women and children affairs Madam Otioko together with the president of Ghana in a high government delegation agreed to pay their respect to the wife and family of the deceased Major Maxwell Mahama with a memorial fund for initial deposit of ¢500,000.

This is also to express their solidarity to the family. The president himself offered 50 thousand Ghana cedis as personal support for the fund…..

On Monday, June 5, 2017, Cabinet held its regular fortnightly meeting at which, amongst others, issues bordering on the tragic killing of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama were discussed.
At the meeting, the following decisions were reached, regarding the late Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama:
1. The President directed that the late Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama be given a full state burial, to be held at the forecourt of the State House, Accra, on Friday, June 9, 2017.

2. The President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, posthumously promoted the late Captain Mahama from the rank of Captain to Major, upon the recommendation of the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. O.B Akwa.

3. The President directed that an appropriate monument be erected in honour of the late Captain. This is in fulfillment of the wishes and appeals made by his family in the aftermath of his death to the government.

4. The President also directed the setting up of a Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama Memorial Trust Fund, with a seed money of GH¢500,000 purposely to cater for his wife and children. The President has personally donated GH¢50,000 to the Fund.
