Ghana is polarised – Christian Council

The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has urged Ghanaians to take conscious steps to ensure that this year’s election is peaceful, free and fair.

Chairman of the Council, Rev. Dr Ernest Adu Gyamfi said even though the political atmosphere in the country is polarised, there is the need to ensure that the country emerges united at the end of the November 7 election.

The head of Christian Council disclosed this at the launch of a public education programme by the Council and the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) dubbed “Election 2016 Christian and Public Education Campaign.”

With barely six months to go to the November polls, many Ghanaians have questioned happenings in the country especially with the way the political atmosphere in the country is charged. Many people have called for cool heads as the nation enters what has largely been described as a “make or break election.”

According to the clergy group, in order to de-charge the atmosphere, “the
Christian Council of Ghana has outlined some programmes that we want to pursue to help in terms of Christian public education in relation to the campaign for this year.”

This CCG believes comes at the backside of the fact that “the stakes are very high” adding “we must prevail as a nation since failure is not an option for us.”
