EIGHT ARRESTED FOR PLAN TO SECEDE FROM GHANA

Eight Persons were on Sunday May 5 arrested for planning to split off from Ghana. They were arrested by a team of all the intelligence agencies in the country including Police and the Armed Forces.

The eight are believed to be leader of a group call “Homeland Study Group Foundation”. The Group is said to be aimed at splitting away from Ghana to declare an independent country called “Western Togoland” out of Ghana.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Simon Tenkuu, the eight were arrested in a course of a meeting.

The aim of the meeting was to finalize arrangements to declare independent Western Togoland on May 9, 2019.

Evidences including constitution, national emblem and anthem were found by the intelligence agencies.

Also,it is said that these evidences were prepared these eight persons and others for their supposed country.

Other activities of the group which were found include illegally recruiting and training young people in a militia style.

The aim of the training was to form core of their supposed country’s armed forces and police forces.

Furthermore, the Police administration has said that anyone found guilty of wrongdoing would be dealt with according to the law.

They have again urged the public to give information about the group,its leaders and members to the police.
