EDUCATIONIST SUGGESTS TWO WEEKS FOR B.E.C.E.

An educationist, Mr.Samuel Ziga has expressed distaste about the fact that students are made to use just a week period to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination by the West African Examination Council. Speaking on Pink FM’s morning show Omanbapa kasa he mentioned that the week duration in which the candidates use to write the B.E.C.E is limited thus allowing the candidate not enough space to be extra prepared and relaxed for the examination. He has therefore suggested a two-week period for the exam.

He further explained that because the examinations are set for a week period, there is limited capacity for the candidate to retain and produce whatever they have been taught in the class room as expected.

He also added that, every school should organize professional counselling sessions to psychologically prepare the students mind for any examination,be it internal or external. This tends to prepare them well enough to avoid exams anxiety, fear, unpreparedness and doubts.

He however urged parents and guardians to be mindful of the offensive and abusive comments they pass about their wards poor academic performance as this psychological affect them.
