The president of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has reinstated the deputy Youth and Sports minister and the Board Chairperson of the National Sports Authority (NSA).
The deputy Youth and Sports minister, Hounourable Pius Enam Hadzide and the Chairperson of the Board of National Sports Authority, Kwadwo Baah Agyeman reinstatement follow and immediate effect from the orders of the president, yesterday, 9th JulY, 2018.
The two were suspended based on an alleged involvement in a visa scandal during the commonwealth games in April where sixty (60) people were arrested trying to enter Australia with false identifications.
However, fifty (50) of those people claimed they are journalists who are going there, that is the venue of the game in Australia, to cover the commonwealth games. Yet, they carried false identities.
It was reported that some officials from the NSA, National Sports Authority and the Sports ministry facilitated the dishonest act by acquiring visa for those people.
Nonetheless, the president Nana Akufo Addo asked the two officials to step aside until further investigations against the allegation on them.
Following the completion of investigations into the “Australia Visa Scandal” by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, the deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide and the Board Chairperson of the National Sports Authority Kwadwo Baah Agyeman, has taken their position back into office.
The statement signed by Communications Director at the Jubilee House said “report of the enquiry into the allegations, which was submitted to the President on Friday, 6th July, 2018, contained no adverse findings against them”.
