DEMOLITION EXERCISE TO TAKE PLACE IN TEMA-NII LARYEA BOTWEO

Nii Laryea Botwe, a Sub-Chief of Tema has stated that the assembly wants to do a demolition exercise at Tema.

He said that, the Ramsia site doesn’t belong to Ghana even though it’s on our land. He says the land is covered by International Convention in Iran but people have taken the laws into their hands to sell the lands.

According to him, if the government comes for a piece of land for a project, there is a period of time given for something to be done on the land. He said if the period is over without anything been done on the land, the chiefs take back the land.

The Sub-Chief of Tema pleaded with government to stop the demolition exercise because over 300 people would be homeless if the exercise occurs.

The Member of Parliament for Tema West, Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah has emphasized that the land under litigation belongs to Iran and is been taken care of by wildlife officials.

The Tema West MP stressed that the land has been there for ages and therefore cannot be sold for projects. He also hinted that the land doesn’t belong to the chiefs but the chiefs rather sell the land.

Hon. Carlos also indicated that he’s surprised the lands are being sold for projects.
