DAYS OF MOLESTATION IS OVER.-MADAM COMFORT ASARE

National Directorate at the Department of Gender, Madam Comfort Asare says, the need for parents to communicate and show them love. There’s a need for parents to show interest, love and care rather than molesting them anyhow, she added. According to her, the days of molestation is over. The rate at which children in the country are being abused is becoming frequent. This results in children having issues with their parents and guardians, she said.

She stated this at a Sensitization Forum on a Gender based Violence and Sexual Reproductive Health Right program. According to her, parents and guardians should draw closer to their children. They should do so by having meetings with them and show love and interest for them to feel loved and appreciated. The event took place at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region. This she believes will help reduce violence based issues confronting this nation.

Child Education Officer, Jennifer Essel who facilitated the programme explained their motive and what they intend to achieve. She has therefore called for an immediate passage of the long awaited affirmative action bill in parliament. This is to help create opportunities for more women and end the days of molestation of children.
