The midfielder’s commitment to the Foxes is a huge boost to Claudio Ranieri’s side.
‘I’ve loved playing for this club, it’s been perfect for me and my career and I want to be here for a long time to come. I couldn’t be happier,’ Drinkwater said.
‘I’ve grown a lot as a player and a person in the last four years and Leicester City has been a massive part of that.
‘I owe a lot to the staff here for helping me get to this point and I love being part of this team.
‘We’ve been through so much together and I’m sure there’s a lot more to come.’
After playing a starring role in Leicester’s title success, Drinkwater was unlucky not to find himself in the England squad heading to France.
Drinkwater missed out on Euro 2016 with England but is a vital part of the Leicester side
The 26-year-old has helped the Foxes to unprecedented success since joining the club in 2012
His passing ability and vision make him a key man for boss Ranieri and he won his first cap for his country in a man of the match display against Holland in March.
Tying Drinkwater’s long-term future to the club is a massive coup for Leicester who have managed to keep hold of many of their star names, despite losing N’Golo Kante to Chelsea in a huge £32million deal.
Signed from Manchester United in January 2012, Drinkwater has made 177 appearances for the Foxes.
He was named player of the year as Leicester were promoted to the top-flight in 2013-14 and played in 35 of 38 games last season, as Leicester defied pre-season odds of 5000/1 to win the Premier League title.
Ranieri said: ‘Ever since I joined Leicester City, Danny has been one of our most consistent players. He’s a fantastic player and a fantastic man.
‘He’s an important player for us and a very popular player in the dressing room. I want him to stay with us for a very long time.’
Ranieri is full of praise for Drinkwater and wants him to stay at Leicester for a long time
The midfielder played 35 times in the Premier League last season as Leicester won the title.
