Danilo and Keylor Navas undergo surgery

Madrid’s Ruber Clinic hosted Real Madrid players Danilo and Keylor Navas for surgery on Thursday morning.

Doctors Niek van Dijk, Pedro Luis Ripoll, Mariano de Prado, Helder Pereira and Real Madrid’s medical chief Jesus Olmo were scheduled to carry out a procedure to solve the ongoing issues at the joint of Danilo’s right ankle.

Navas also attended the clinic on Thursday morning in order to undergo a minimally invasive endoscopy on his left heel.

The goalkeeper’s operation was to be performed by the same doctors and was pencilled in after Navas met with Dr Van Dijk in Amsterdam on Monday.

The Dutch clinician decided that Navas needed to go under the knife, meaning he will not be able to join up with his Costa Rican teammates at the Copa America.

Recovery time should not be an issue for either player given that Real Madrid do not return for pre-season training until July 17.
