Cristiano Ronaldo: I hope to stay at Real Madrid for years to come

Arecent recipient of last season’s Champions League best player award, as voted by MARCA and Gazzetta Dello Sport, Cristiano Ronaldo showed his appreciation by doubling down his commitment to the club.

In an exclusive interview with MARCA that will be published in full on Friday, the Portuguese striker shared his thoughts on everything from coach Zinedine Zidane, recent injuries to plague the squad, to his current form and fitness levels.

“I hope to remain at Real Madrid for years to come,” Ronaldo said. “This is the club I love.

“We have a big squad that can cover for Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos’ injuries- it’ll be difficult but Real have the quality.

As for his relationship with Zidane, the player emphasised one trait in particular.

“He [Zidane] knows Real Madrid well which is a plus, but he also listens, which is a big advantage,” the striker told MARCA.

“Zizou is calm, very professional, and likes to work.”
