There seem to be a sense of confusion between the Motor Transport and Traffic Department of the Kasoa Divisional Police command and contractors of the Kasoa Interchange project, Queiroz Galvao over the huge traffic development following the start of the project.
A batch of drivers had clashed with personnel of the MTTD this afternoon concerning where to make a U-turn before entering the main Kasoa township since the contractors as part of the construction had closed the main existing u-turn.
The drivers argued that driving through the main Kasoa township to make a u-turn has become too stressful following the closure of the existing u-turn and had therefore wished to make the turn some meters before entering the township but was denied by the police personnel which resulted into a very heated argument.
But when the MTTD Commander, Asp. Alhassan Bawa was contacted for an interview on the development, he told PinkNews that, his department is not in charge of the traffic management but that solely remained a duty of the contractors of the Kasoa Interchange.
But speaking to Amadu Tuariq, the PRO of the project, he denied the assertion of the MTTD Commander, stressing that there has been a constant conversation between the contractors and the Kasoa MTTD with regards to managing the traffic situation as the project is been sanctioned.
The normal traffic jam in Kasoa has increased in folds following the start of the project thereby making driving through the township very stressful since the travel period according to some drivers who have spoken to PinkNews has reduced to two kilometers per hour on market days.
