CHILDREN CAN’T DO ALCOHOL BUSINESS- FDA

Pink News has learnt that children below the ages of 18 are engaged in alcohol business.

Even though the regulations of the Food and Drugs Authority barres operators from selling alcoholic beverages to children below 18, this reporter has witnessed some children who are below the age mark vigorously selling alcohol to adults.

At various places, this reporter was told by some of the kids that they were looking after the drinking places for their parents whilst others told this reporter that, they have been adopted specifically by the owners to do that business.

At some places, the kids were met doing serious business in the middle of the night whilst patrons danced to hot bangers.

Reacting to the report during a telephone interview in a Pink FM news program, PRO for the Food and Drugs Authority, James Lartey stressed that, according to the regulations of the Authority, children are completely barred from selling alcohol.

He therefore called on the Ghana Police service to embark on a move to arrest drinking bar and pub operators who engage the services of children below 18 in the alcohol business.

He added that such owners are liable to prosecution when caught.

Mr Lartey has however pledged that the Food and Drugs Authority shall soon embark on a move to prevent this trend.
