BUILDING ANOTHER “EMPTY” CHAMBER OF PARLIAMENTARIANS FOR $200M

It’s appalling to hear Ghanaian Parliamentarians requesting for a new chamber worth $200M at this crucial moment.

Today in an interview with Wisdom Amewudzo,a concerned youth of Ghana, he expressed his concern on how Members of Parliament are running things in the country.

He said,”when was the last time the chamber got full?. The chamber gets full only when there were important things to be done like reading the State Of the Nation’s Address or the Swearing in of a new President.”

He stated that we are living in a country of management. A hospital supposed to accommodate hundred patients is now accommodating two hundred patients. There are inadequate ambulances in Ghana but doctors and patients in Ghana are managing”.

A maternity block built at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital since 1974 has been left uncompleted. A thirty minutes journey is now taking close to three hours. All because there are inadequate roads resulting in traffic jams but passengers and drivers are managing.

A class supposed to accommodate thirty students is now accommodating sixty students but students and teachers are still managing. He therefore advised the  parliamentarians to also do same.

He said the seats in the chamber are more expensive than in other African countries.

The total population of South Africa as at now is 57,943,225 which is equivalent to 0.75% of the world’s total population and the total land area is 1,221,037 square kilometers with 33 ministers and deputies, even for that, they call it monstrous ministers, meaning they are many.

Ghana’s population is 30,097,145 which is equivalent to 0.39% of the world’s total population and a total land area of 238,539 square kilometers with 123 ministers and deputies.

These parliamentarians are not concerned about finding ways to make laws beneficial to the common Ghanaian.

Lastly, Wisdom Amewudzo lambasted the Member of Parliament who said,”MPs cannot sit under trees to make laws”. But students who are also citizens of the country can sit under trees to learn. He owed his constituency an apology.

Why is the opposition in parliament quiet, are they going to benefit from this as well?. It looks like this supposed chamber is going to be of huge benefit to these parliamentarians.
