The MP for Sagnarigu constituency, Hon. A.B.A Fuseini says that the President is using the recently sacked Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko as a sacrificial lamb.
According to him, the president is rather the cause of the mess but has rather ventured out the blame on the Energy Minister for a mistake he the President did.
“This is a scandal of gargantuan proportions and the President should not just think by throwing Boakye Agyarko as a sacrificial lamb he will exonerate himself from the mess, he is responsible for the mess”.
When asked in an interview on Pink FM morning show Omanbapa Kasa, if he is happy about the energy Minister being sacked he said, “not exactly, its just the tip of the iceberg, it’s a window missing, its just an act of scapegoating by the President”.
He said they the minority expect the president to go deeper, because the real course of the matter is the president , because he gave his executive approval .
Hon. Fuseini says the president has been mislead but keeps on saying its Hon. Boakye Agyarko who mislead him.
When asked if credit should be given to the President for his decision as Hon. Boakye Agyarko’s dismissal was in connection with the AMERI deal he said” on what basis are you crediting the President for this, has it been made known if Boakye Agyarko was sacked because of the AMERI deal , no! then how can you deduce to give credit to the President.”
He further stated that if the president sacked the Energy Minister based on the AMERI deal then why cant he just say so , he wants to know what the President is running away from.
To him the President didn’t say the course of the dismissal because the President is involved in the AMERI scandal.
“there are many unanswered questions as far as this transaction is concerned and we need to get to the bottom of the matter”.
The MP said the only way to get to the bottom of this matter is for Ghana to get an independent by- partisan to investigate the situation and establish the complexity or names that have popped up including names of the Presidents relatives.
According to Hon. A.B.A the Presidents brother Thompson is involved in the scandal as his name was among the names that was mentioned as being involved in the scandal and has to be investigated.
To him this is a huge scandal and if it was in any serious jurisdiction the President would have to resign.
He said that Ghanaians would be waiting to see the action the special prosecutor would take on this issue to if the office is ready to take up the fight against corruption.
The MP concluded that they the Minority will demand accountability from the Government if he fails to come out with any explanation to the public, because they owe Ghanaians a huge responsibility and so will have to hold the Government to the seat of accountability.
