Black Queens fly out Paderborn to face Germany in friendly

The Black Queens left Accra this morning (Wednesday) to Paderborn to face Germany in a friendly on Friday.

Head coach Yusif Bassigi has selected 18 players after inviting 23 to camp last week.

The friendly will be beneficial for both national teams.

Germany are preparing for the Olympics next month in Rio de Janeiro where they will face Zimbabwe, Australia and Canada in the group stage.

The Black Queens are also preparing for the African Women Championships in November.

Doris Fitschen, the Manager of Germany’s national team said in an interview: “Ghana was our first-choice opponents because we desperately wanted to test ourselves against an African team to round up our preparation for the Olympics… Their style of play is very similar to our first opposition at the games, Zimbabwe.”
