AKYEM ABUAKWA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL  BAN NOISE MAKING AHEAD OF OHUM FESTIVAL.

Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council in the Eastern Region has imposed two weeks ban on noise making as part of custom to usher into the Ohum Kan festival.

The ban which will be lifted in two weeks restricts churches and the public to desist from activities that would create noise within the period on all Akyem Abuakwa lands.

Speaking to PINKNEWS’ Stephen Nana Adjei Sikapa,  Osabarima Adusei Peasah lV, Chief of Akyem Tafo, indicated that anyone who goes contrary to the ban will be sanctioned in accordance with the rules governing the land.

He however called on all the indigenous citizens to come join them in the the celebrations in order to come together and help in the development of the area.

“I will not be in the palanquin this year due to recent bad happenings that has be-felled the people including deaths” He revealed .

Osabarima Adusei Peasah lV also challenged Ghanaians to uphold the peace we enjoy in the country and not allow politics to divide us but rather work towards the common goal of seeking for development.

In a related development,  the chief has debunked earlier comments by Okyeman Adontenhene and Chief of Kukurantumi, Daasebre Awuah Kotoko ll that, the State council has cancelled the celebration of Ohum kyire festival which is celebrated three months after the Ohum Man.

“Okyehene raised the issue at a State council but I boldly rejected the decision and luckily I got support from all the communities who started the Ohum festival celebrations with us” The Regional Stool Lands Boss voiced out.

He therefore, noted with emphasis that,  there is no way the celebrations of the Ohum Kyire can be called off since he (Osabarima) is the Patron of the festival.

The Ohum festival according to sources,  is celebrated to seek for blessings from the ancestors as well as to pave way for the consumption of fresh yam.
