AKUFFO ADDO FAILS TO MAKE ACCRA THE CLEANEST CITY IN AFRICA

Poor sanitation is increasingly becoming a huge problem in our country and Accra to be precise. It extremely worrying and indeed embarrassing and it is so sad at the way we continue to deal with sanitation and its related problems.
Sanitation is very important in the life of people in the country which ensure good health, sound mind and healthy living. People with healthy mind work hard to improve the productivity of the community and the country as a whole hence, if people are not healthy how possible can they work to improve productivity.

Regardless of the national sanitation day which is to clean our gutters and clean our surrounding to get rid of filth, people don’t take it serious. The question one may ask is whether there is a single day in a whole month as a day for promoting sanitation? People must be educated on how to keep their compound clean since most of the people are ignorant.
The picture of sanitations is embarrassing as Ghana is the second country in the world to practice open defecation according to World Health Organization.

Moreover, out of 4, 3 Ghanaians attend nature call in the bush, dump site, drains or even the beaches. These lead to choked gutters and at the same time cause flood. Quite recently, another incidence happened at circle where the place got flooded again upon all the gutters they repaired after the 3rd June incidence which happened in 2015. We continue to battle poor health and spend huge some of resource on fighting sanitation-related diseases that can be prevented.

On the other hand, people living within the country are sometimes ignorant because we make the filth ourselves, we burn rubbish anyhow and also pollute our waters and the environment. we defecate openly but keep on blaming the government officials
There are certain measures the government has to put in place because they have the power to cause changes. However, we go around and admire the beauty of other nations  and return to sleep on our mother Ghana.

The question is, what measures are government officials going to put in place, because according to the president, he will make Accra the cleanest city in Africa. Was it just a mere propaganda or just a round map. Is the President doing what he said?
