ACTING MODERATOR CALLS FOR UNITY

The acting moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev.Dr. Okoe Abbey has called on policymakers in the educational sector to work together with churches in unity and understanding to develop.

According to him, Presbyterian colleges has been elevated to as a Tertiary institution of which by law the colleges must have a Governing Council to be able to operate well and legally but are still operating without the Governing Council.

The moderator cautioned the policy makers not to create a recipe for a repeat of the legal battles that are going on at the University of Education, Winneba and the Wa Polytechnic.

He added that the Presbyterian Church of Ghana wants to know when the Governing Councils of the colleges of Education shall be reconstituted for the proper administration of the Colleges.

Speaking at the 90th anniversary of Presbyterian Women’s College Of Education,Aburi under the theme 90 Years Of Training Female Teachers;Acknowledging The Past,Celebrating The Present And Planning For The Future ” he said long before the colonial government and later Ghanaian Government thought of education the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has already established schools.

In conclusion Rev.Dr. Okoe Abbey has called on the ministry of education Ghana education service to value the contribution of the churches and treat them with respect.

On her part president of Presbyterian schools, Mrs. Rosemond Amoako Apenteng entreated the students to see teaching as a calling and nothing else.

She also advised them to sustain, developed and transform the legacy of their forebears have bequeathed.
