The Municipal Chief Executive [MCE] for Asante Akyem North in the Ashanti Region, Francis Oti Boateng, has promised the residents of Asante Agogo that socio-economic development is assured, now that 95% of the herdsmen and their cattle have been evicted.
Speaking to Pink FM’s current affairs program, ‘Omanbapa Kasa’, Hon. Francis Oti Boateng said that, there has been progress on the task-force known as ‘Operation Cowleg’.
“We will issue a statement on it. About 95 per cent of the ‘Operation Cowleg’ has been fruitful. Watermelon has been in abundance since the Fulani herdsmen have left the place. At a time, the cattle will be allowed to eat the watermelon. But now we are in abundance, especially in the Afram Plains”, he added.
According to him, the campaign promise of the President ‘One District-One factory’ program which is aimed at establishing at least, one factory in any district will commence at Agogo, since the cattle has left, and also the government has accepted their proposal. He revealed that there will be a watermelon juice factory and tomato puree factory.
Mr Francis Oti Boateng re-assured Ghanaians that it doesn’t take a day for the campaign promise of Nana Addo to be implemented. The construction of the factory will surely, come true so Ghanaians should ignore the allegation.
The MCE made mention, “The most important thing for a factory is the raw materials. We need to look at feasibility studies very well and see the things which are in the deficit. Then again, see the benefits the factory will bring, and also, we have to know that some raw materials come in their season. The government need to upgrade the irrigation system in the districts first before the operation of the factory”. He reiterated that it does not take a day for a promise to be fulfilled.
He implied that, the government has already approved a cassava-starch factory which is part of a 5 factory, they want build. In view of this, he said that, the chief of Agogo has given out a 20,000 acre of land, and work on the planting of the cassava has even begun.
