2 ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTING TO KIDNAP BOY

Jacob Cudjoe, 35, has been arrested for attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old boy on Tuesday evening, at Effiakuma, in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, in the Western Region.

Cudjoe, according to the police, aroused the suspicion of the public when he attempted pushing the victim into a taxi cab with registration number GW 9619-Q, being driven by Anthony Gariba,30.

Both Cudjoe and Gariba were in police custody at the Central Police Station while investigations continued.

However, the woes of Cudjoe appears to have worsened as the father of the victim, James Kreku, had revealed that the suspect introduced himself as a police officer during a conversation at a bar at Effiakuma. Kreku also told police investigators that he never introduced Cudjoe to arrest his son. The Police Public Relations Officer, (PRO) Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, confirmed the story to The Ghanaian Times.

He said at about 8.45 on Tuesday March 21, Cudjoe was arrested by some residents, who saw him pushing the victim into the taxe cab, being driven by Gariba, and handed him over to the police.

At the police station, she said, Cudjoe indicated that Kreku instructed him to take action against the boy, who he described as a ‘deviant’, during a conversation at a bar at Effiakuma.

According to ASP Adiku, when Kreku was arrested, he revealed that at the bar Cudjoe introduced himself as policeman, but, he never instructed him to take action against the boy.

Kreku has been granted bail since he denied that he never instructed Cudjoe to take action against his son,” she said.

ASP Adiku said, the victim had been released to the mother adding that “Cudjoe is still in custody as the police have begun investigations into his claim that he is a policeman.”
