BOY 16, MEETS UNTIMELY DEATH

A 16-year old boy, Kobby meets his untimely death after drowning in an abandoned quarry with water. The incident occurred at Gomoa Aprah in the Central Region.

Mother of the 16-year old, Araba Eshun explained that, she heard the news of her son’s untimely death from a friend. She added that, her son would have been alive today had the owners of the quarry covered the pits they dug.

She also explained that, her son was not the first to have drowned in a pit in that area. Many innocent children have fallen victim to that unpleasant experience.

According to her, they have complained severally to the owners of the quarry but their complaints have all been ignored.

“Kobby went to the quarry together with his friend to swim. Kobby lost his life in the process while his friend managed to survive”, the assembly man said.

According to him, various communities around the pits go there to fetch water despite the danger.

He also blamed the management of the quarry for not following safety standards since they refused to cover the pit they dug.

The assembly man also hopes Kobby’s death will be a lesson for the quarry operators to do attend to the situation.

He added that, he is calling on the help of the government to assist them in the situation.
