Under mysterious circumstances ten year old Edith Amponsah in Kotei a suburb of Kumasi committed suicide hanging herself with a sponge on a dry line.
The primary four pupil had returned from school just at the time her grandmother Janet Dawud got home from the Friday Muslim congregational prayer to prepare food for her and other children in the house.
Whilst cooking, Janet needed her granddaughter to run an errand for her but she was nowhere to be found. One of the students found the body hanged loosely at the back of the house and rushed in to inform her grandmother, Janet Dawud the only person in the house at the time.
The grandmother of the deceased could not hold herself together, upon seeing her granddaughter who has lived with her since she was two. Residents of Kotei were really shocked by the death of the young girl, most of the people said she always kept to herself and was not outspoken.
However, Sadick Antwi, the uncle of the deceased talked about how some television programs were not suitable for child viewing and most young ones out of curiosity, practice what they watch which has a negative impact on children.
Furthermore, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Emena Hospital Morgue pending autopsy and investigations. The incident has been reported to the KNUST police station which has also begun investigations.
